Eger
The region of Heves has excellent opportunities in the field of medical tourism. Since ancient times, healing baths have been created here near the sources of medicinal and thermal waters. Their culture received a new development during the Turkish invasion. Today, local waters are used not only for bathing, but also for medicinal drinking.
The regional center of Eger is located at the foot of the
Bükk Mountains, on a hilly area separating the Matra and Bükk Mountains in the
valley of the Eger stream. Thanks to its geographical location, high levels of
winemaking and bathing culture, Eger has become one of the most visited cities
in the country. The healing power of local thermal water sources was used here
already in the Middle Ages.

The Turkish bath in Eger was built at the beginning of the 17th century. During
the reconstructions carried out in different centuries, its architectural
appearance and traditions have been preserved. Today, the building houses a
modern balneological center. Healing water with a temperature of +31̊С comes
from under the stones covering the bottom of the pools. Water is supplied to
the pools with a higher temperature from the Andornaktalia thermal springs
located near Eger.
The main healing properties of water are explained by the presence of radon in
it, which explains the presence of bubbles. Radon reduces inflammation,
increases the production of endorphins in the body, which improves
